about

TAKE has always been a band that wants to challenge the listeners way of thinking. We have always been a band that cherishes speaking out and voicing one's opinion. With everything going on in the world, we thought it would be a great time to release our cover of Neil Young's "Ohio", which is considered by many to be a top 5 protest song.

"Ohio" is about the military opening fire on protestors at Kent State on May 4th, 1970, which killed 4 peaceful protestors. Take a few minutes and read about this event if you're not familiar.

We took "Ohio" and made it our own by making it heavy, updating the lyrics, and changing the title to "Tin Soldiers". The lyrics are very straight forward but you'll notice towards the tail end of the song a Bible verse from Isaiah which speaks of forgiveness. Going out and protesting is your right. If you truly care about a cause, you should be out there voicing your concerns, but in the end if we can't forgive, love, and unite, the same vicious cycle will continue to take place.

"Tin Soldiers" is a call to not only stand up for what you believe in, but it is also a call to forgive and finally end that cycle of hate. No matter how badly you've been wronged, if you can't forgive, if you can't let go, or if all you seek is revenge, you'll end up exactly like the people you are protesting against.
